What the weather here is
Three islands at the north end of the Mozambique Channel, wet November to April under the northwest monsoon and drier the rest of the year under the southeast trades. Grande Comore is dominated by Karthala, one of the most active volcanoes in the world at 2,361 m, which wrings heavy orographic rain out of the flow and has no surface water at all because the young lava drains everything instantly. The islands sit squarely in the cyclone corridor: Kenneth passed directly over in 2019 on the way to Mozambique.
