What the weather here is
The oldest of the Comoro islands, worn down to a low relief inside one of the largest lagoons in the world, and French — so its forecasts and its cyclone warnings come from Météo-France. Wet season November to April with around 1,500 mm, dry and breezy the rest of the year. In December 2024 Cyclone Chido crossed the island directly as the strongest system to hit it in ninety years, and the damage to informal housing was near-total — the clearest recent demonstration in the basin that exposure, not just intensity, sets the toll.
