What the weather here is

A volcanic island 1,900 km off Angola sitting under the permanent South Atlantic trade wind, which means its weather barely varies: Jamestown runs 20 to 26 °C the entire year with a steady southeasterly. What does vary is altitude — the ridge at Diana's Peak is 820 m, catches cloud constantly and is temperate rainforest, while the coast 5 km away is semi-desert. The airport that opened in 2016 famously spent a year unusable for large aircraft because of wind shear off that same ridge. Ascension Island, 1,300 km further north and part of the same territory, is drier still; Tristan da Cunha is also part of it, and lies 2,400 km south of this map.

Where the official forecast is

This site is not a warning service. The official forecast and every watch and warning for Saint Helena comes from St Helena Government.

What is on this page is the raw observation — the METAR itself, from the aerodrome named above it — with nothing added and nothing forecast.
