What the weather here is

Two volcanic islands on the equator with a mountain in the middle of each, and the rain shadow is extreme: the southwest of São Tomé takes over 5,000 mm while the northeast around the capital takes under 1,000 mm, over a distance you can drive in an hour. The southwesterly monsoon delivers it, the gravana — a cool, dry, overcast season from June to September — interrupts it, and because the islands are within a degree of the equator there is no cyclone risk at all and almost no seasonal temperature signal.

Where the official forecast is

This site is not a warning service. The official forecast and every watch and warning for São Tomé and Príncipe comes from Instituto Nacional de Meteorologia.

What is on this page is the raw observation — the METAR itself, from the aerodrome named above it — with nothing added and nothing forecast.
