What the weather here is

Port Louis on the leeward northwest coast takes around 1,000 mm and is hot; the central plateau at Curepipe, 20 km away and 550 m up, takes something over 3,500 mm and is famous for being perpetually damp. That is the whole island in one sentence. The cyclone season runs November to May and Mauritius takes a serious threat most years — the warning classes are a fixture of national life — and the country also administers Rodrigues, 560 km east and drier, and the Agalega islands far to the north. Mauritius is one of the few African states running its own weather radar and upper-air programme.

Where the official forecast is

This site is not a warning service. The official forecast and every watch and warning for Mauritius comes from Mauritius Meteorological Services. During a tropical cyclone the advisory that everything else follows is RSMC La Réunion’s, which is the WMO centre for the southwest Indian Ocean.

What is on this page is the raw observation — the METAR itself, from the aerodrome named above it — with nothing added and nothing forecast.
