What the weather here is

Almost all of Egypt is hyperarid: Aswan averages under 1 mm of rain a year and Luxor is not much wetter, so the country's water is entirely a Ethiopian-highlands import carried down the Nile. The Mediterranean coast is the exception — Alexandria takes around 200 mm, all of it between November and March, from lows tracking the eastern basin. Spring brings the khamsin, a southerly ahead of a passing depression that can lift Cairo past 40 °C in April and fill the air with sand. The genuine hazard is the opposite: Red Sea trough thunderstorms that flash-flood wadis in the Eastern Desert and Sinai, on ground that has no drainage because it almost never needs any.

Where the official forecast is

This site is not a warning service. The official forecast and every watch and warning for Egypt comes from Egyptian Meteorological Authority.

What is on this page is the raw observation — the METAR itself, from the aerodrome named above it — with nothing added and nothing forecast.
