What the weather here is

Burundi runs from the shore of Lake Tanganyika at 770 m — hot, humid, and where Bujumbura sits — up to the Congo-Nile divide above 2,500 m, which is cool enough for frost and takes over 1,500 mm. Gitega, the political capital since 2019, sits in between on the central plateau at 1,700 m with a comfortable 20 °C year-round. Two rainy seasons either side of a short January lull, and a firm dry season from June to August. The southernmost source of the Nile is here, on a hillside in Rutovu.

Where the official forecast is

This site is not a warning service. The official forecast and every watch and warning for Burundi comes from IGEBU — Institut Géographique du Burundi.

What is on this page is the raw observation — the METAR itself, from the aerodrome named above it — with nothing added and nothing forecast.
