What the weather here is

Satellite lightning detection has consistently put the global maximum flash density in the eastern Congo basin around Kabare and Kifuka — well over 150 flashes per square kilometre per year, more than anywhere else measured — because moist basin air is lifted every afternoon against the Albertine Rift. The country spans the equator, so the north and south halves rain in opposite seasons and the Congo River's discharge, second only to the Amazon's, barely varies. Kinshasa has a dry season; Kisangani on the equator does not; the Rift highlands at 1,500 m are cool and green; and Katanga in the south is a subtropical plateau with a hard dry winter.

Where the official forecast is

This site is not a warning service. The official forecast and every watch and warning for DR Congo comes from METTELSAT — Agence Nationale de Météorologie et de Télédétection par Satellite.

What is on this page is the raw observation — the METAR itself, from the aerodrome named above it — with nothing added and nothing forecast.
