What the weather here is

Djibouti's summer is among the most punishing in the world: the city averages a daily maximum around 41 °C in July with dew points high enough to make it dangerous, and the khamsin off the Danakil makes it worse. Rain is negligible — under 150 mm a year, mostly from a few winter events — and the country's water is almost entirely groundwater and desalination. Lake Assal at 155 m below sea level is the lowest point in Africa and one of the saltiest bodies of water anywhere. The Goda Mountains behind Tadjoura are the one green exception, catching enough orographic cloud to hold forest.

Where the official forecast is

This site is not a warning service. The official forecast and every watch and warning for Djibouti comes from Agence Nationale de la Météorologie de Djibouti.

What is on this page is the raw observation — the METAR itself, from the aerodrome named above it — with nothing added and nothing forecast.
