What the weather here is
Hyperarid — much of it takes under 50 mm a year and some stations have gone years between measurable rain — and yet the coast is frequently in fog and rarely hot, because the Canary Current runs cold water past it and the upwelling off Cape Bojador is among the strongest on Earth. That contrast is the whole climate: Dakhla holds 25 °C and a stiff northeasterly nearly every afternoon, which is why it is a kitesurfing destination in a desert, while 100 km inland the same day is 40 °C and cloudless.
