Dakar

Dakar sits on the westernmost point of the continent with ocean on three sides, which gives it a maritime damping nowhere inland enjoys — 24 °C in January, 28 °C in September, and a wet season squeezed into July to October. Move 300 km southeast to Tambacounda and the same season delivers twice the rain at 40 °C, and Casamance in the far south is another world again, wet enough for rice. In the dry season the harmattan runs out of the desert and the visible line where it meets the sea breeze sits over the Cap-Vert peninsula most winter afternoons.
