What the weather here is

The Fouta Djallon highlands are where the Niger, the Senegal and the Gambia all rise, which makes this small country the source of the water half the region's population depends on. It earns the title by being extraordinarily wet: Conakry takes about 3,700 mm a year, most of it between June and October, and July alone can deliver over a metre. The mechanism is orographic — the monsoon southwesterly hits the escarpment head-on — and the same lift is why the highlands are 10 °C cooler than the coast and grow temperate crops at 1,000 m.

Where the official forecast is

This site is not a warning service. The official forecast and every watch and warning for Guinea comes from Agence Nationale de la Météorologie.

What is on this page is the raw observation — the METAR itself, from the aerodrome named above it — with nothing added and nothing forecast.
