What the weather here is

The Namib is the oldest desert on Earth and it exists because the Benguela Current runs cold water up a coast that the subtropical high already holds under descending air. The result at Walvis Bay is under 15 mm of rain a year and fog on more than half the mornings — and that fog is the entire water supply for the desert's ecology, harvested by beetles and welwitschia alike. Inland the plateau at Windhoek climbs to 1,700 m and takes about 360 mm in a January-to-March season, and the Caprivi Strip in the far northeast reaches 600 mm and is genuinely subtropical. The bergwind reverses it all: an offshore easterly that can put 40 °C on the coast in winter.

Where the official forecast is

This site is not a warning service. The official forecast and every watch and warning for Namibia comes from Namibia Meteorological Service.

What is on this page is the raw observation — the METAR itself, from the aerodrome named above it — with nothing added and nothing forecast.
