The numbers
What the weather here is
Lake Victoria is 68,000 km² of warm water on the equator, and at night the land breeze converges over the middle of it and builds some of the most intense and most frequent thunderstorms on the planet — the lake sees storms on the order of 200 nights a year, and they kill hundreds of fishermen annually. Kampala on the northern shore takes about 1,200 mm in two seasons and is one of the most lightning-struck cities anywhere. Away from the lake the country is a high plateau at 1,100 m, mild and green; the Rwenzoris on the Congo border rise to 5,109 m and hold the last equatorial glaciers in Africa; and the Karamoja northeast is semi-arid and drought-prone.
Where the official forecast is
This site is not a warning service. The official forecast and every watch and warning for Uganda comes from UNMA — Uganda National Meteorological Authority.
What is on this page is the raw observation — the METAR itself, from the aerodrome named above it — with nothing added and nothing forecast.
