The numbers
What the weather here is
Niger sits square on the boundary the whole region watches, and it hosts ACMAD in Niamey for exactly that reason — the African Centre of Meteorological Applications for Development, which issues the seasonal outlook the Sahel plants against. The country runs from 600 mm in the southwest to the Aïr Massif and the Ténéré, which is as dry as the Sahara gets. Warming here has outpaced the global mean, and the extreme storms have got stronger even where the seasonal total has not: Niamey's most damaging floods in a century have all fallen since 2010.
Where the official forecast is
This site is not a warning service. The official forecast and every watch and warning for Niger comes from Direction de la Météorologie Nationale.
What is on this page is the raw observation — the METAR itself, from the aerodrome named above it — with nothing added and nothing forecast.
