The numbers
What the weather here is
The Bodélé Depression in northern Chad — the dry floor of what was once a lake bigger than the Caspian — is the single largest source of atmospheric dust on the planet, and the diatomite it lifts is blown across the Atlantic to fertilise the Amazon. That is Chad's claim on world weather. Its own runs the full gradient in 1,700 km: the Sahara in the north with the Tibesti at 3,400 m, Sahel in the middle where N'Djamena takes 550 mm in a four-month season, and Sudanian savanna at Moundou with three times that. Lake Chad's surface has shrunk by something like 90% since the 1960s, and it responds to Sahel rainfall within a season or two.
Where the official forecast is
This site is not a warning service. The official forecast and every watch and warning for Chad comes from Agence Nationale de la Météorologie — via ASECNA.
What is on this page is the raw observation — the METAR itself, from the aerodrome named above it — with nothing added and nothing forecast.
